Animal Welfare OrganizationsThe Doris Day Animal League - The Doris Day Animal League is a nonprofit, national, citizens lobbying organization formed to focus attention on issues involving the humane treatment of animals. The site offers a wealth of information about current animal rights issues. American Pet Association - The APA is an independent, national humane organization dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership through action, services and education. Pet Loss Support - This site is an excellent source of comfort and information for those who are grieving for the loss of a loved pet as well as friends of a person who has lost a pet. Select Smart - This is a great site for selecting a dog or cat breed that is right for you! You answer a series of questions about the traits you desire in your dog or cat and rank the importance of each criteria such as intelligence, barking, child-friendly, coat type, etc. The site then brings up a list of breeds that fit your criteria and allows you to see a picture and brief description of each breed.
