The Ninth Annual Paws on the Pavement 5K Run kicks off at 8 am and the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk begins at 9:30 am. Pets are welcome to participate with their owners in the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk.

In conjunction with this year's event, Pet Psychic Readings by Carol Pate, a nationally renowned psychic. For a $20 donation to CARE, Pate will conduct an individual reading from a photo of the pet provided by its owner.

  • Dog Agility Demonstrations by Little Rock Dog Training Club.
  • AVID Microchipping will be available for a $25 donation.
  • Doggie Carnival $1 entry fee -- games your dog will love to play!

  • Photos of you and/or your dog by the Arkansas River by professional photographer, Nelson Chenault.
  • Lots of dog friendly vendors!
  • Door prizes!


  • If you are looking for a new addition to the family, the Little Rock Animal Services Mobile Adoption Unit, the Sherwood Animal Shelter Mobile Adoption Unit and the Jacksonville Animal Shelter will be on-site with pets available for placement.

    The entry fee for the event is $20/person or $36/family if postmarked by May 10.
    After May 10 and the day of the event, the entry fee is $25/person or $40/family.
    This fee includes a participant race bag as well as event t-shirt.

    Printable Entry Forms are also available to mail in or register at the CARE headquarters.

    Entry forms are also available at many local retail stores and at the CARE Gift Shop at 5516 Kavanaugh Boulevard (between U.S. Pizza and Ozark Outdoors) in Little Rock.


    From I-30
    Take the Cantrell / Markham exit (near the downtown Rivermarket area.) You will be driving west. Follow Cantrell Road past the Rivermarket and continue on for several miles. You will pass Dillard's corporate offices and the Anthony School. When you cross the bridge, turn right at the first stoplight which is Riverfront Drive. Follow Riverfront Drive into Murray Park. You will pass Rebsamen Golf Course and the first Murray Park entrance (boat ramp and soccer fields.) Turn right at the next Murray Park entrance and you will see the registration tent at the front of the Pavilion area.

    From I-430
    Take the Cantrell Road exit going East. Follow Cantrell Road for approximately 4-5 miles. You will go down a steep hill, and at the base of the hill, you will see a Twin City Bank and Harvest Foods on your left. At the Riverfront Drive stoplight, turn left. Follow Riverfront Drive into Murray Park. You will pass Rebsamen Golf Course and the first Murray Park entrance (boat ramp and soccer fields.) Turn right at the next Murray Park entrance and you will see the registration tent at the front of the Pavilion area.

    All proceeds from this event will directly benefit CARE for Animals, Inc., a non-profit animal rescue and spay/neuter organization whose purpose is to rescue dogs and cats facing euthanasia from local animal control facilities, and to decrease the number of these homeless and abandoned animals through aggressive spay/neuter programs. Since its inception in 1998, CARE has rescued more than 1,852 dogs and cats, and provided 5,677 free sterilizations for pets from limited income families.
